Fiji grass skirt on display in the Mary O'Neill Doll Museum

Mary O'Neill's friend Mere made a grass skirt for Thomas O'Neill. When returned to New Zealand, Thomas gave his grass skirt to be permanently exhibited in the Mary O'Neill Doll Museum.

In the photograph is Mere sitting at the Nadi market in 2003 making a grass skirt for Thomas. Mere was born in Kadavu Island, live in Nadi, and used to sell her craft at the Nadi market.
